TWO Quick & Easy Fixes to STOP Overthinking

First of all thoughts aren’t you, secondly, you can’t think with 100KG on your back.

Are you the type of person who is always overthinking?

Perhaps an event in the future which hasn’t happened yet, or a challenging moment in the past whereby you can’t help but try to resolve it through mental rehearsal.

As you sit there now, reading these words you may even be thinking about events which you really have no control over, but the mind continues the unsolicited chatter.

No Attention to Spare

Here I’m going to share with you the quickest and easiest way to negate overthinking, anxiety and general stress.

Simply, you want to put yourself in an experience whereby all your attention is focused in one singular direction.

Sounds simple, but the reality and experience is not easy.

Most often then not, these focused experiences are very challenging. Take very strenuous forms of exercise like weight-lifting, long-distance running, rock climbing and things of this nature.

The premise behind this is you cannot spare attention to think in these moments duress.

Try Something New

Conversely, another very effective way to relieve yourself of mental chatter is to try something completely new and out of your comfort zone.

I just recently started yoga, for which I have no reference points in which to govern my actions. Sure, I’m terrible at it, but something amazing happens for 30-40 minutes. I can’t think, I can’t think past the task in front of me.

The experience of doing something new is so alien, so unknown, that ALL of your attention must be focused in trying to combat and solve this mysterious task in-front of you.

The experience of having something immediate in your environment that must be engaged in is so liberating, as trivial thoughts melt away into the background.

There is something primal about it, like faced with an immediate threat like a predator. which anchors you so strongly into the present moment that no energy can be spared for needless chatter.

Time for Adventure

Look fundamentally you need to get out of your own way here, the body likes to move, the mind likes to be engaged.

Your boring everyday routine is killing you slowly, like a virus or a poison.

Get some adventure in your life, try something difficult or try something new and you will break free of overthinking, stress, anxiety and mental bondage.
