What if I told you that there is currently a pill that among other things, can accelerate your learning, recovery time and speed up your metabolism. This substance has been associated with increased intelligence, resistance to disease and a reduction in age related changes. Sounds like steroids for the mind right?
Naturally, with these near super-human benefits we can can see a cascade of effects from the previously listed physical, which flow into a clarity of our mental and internal state; this leads us in a direction towards freedom from depression and anxiety.

Okay, okay – just let me preface it’s reveal with this fact: your brain is a symphony of cells connected together through a material known as DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). DHA is fat. Your brain is fat. In fact your brain is roughly 60% whale blubber. The proposition here being, your brain does not function without fat. Period.
“So, we’re not eating enough fast food?” Not quite, that’s more sugar and bad fats. Common misconception you see, good fats don’t really make you fuller in the neck and waist department, that’s hokum. To be honest, we should stop calling fat people fat altogether, because that’s not what’s the problem, it’s sugar – they’re sugar people. I’m talking about omega-3.
Fat is Medicine.
Now, the average human diet is receiving roughly 1:10/1:20 omega-6 to omega-3 fats. That’s a 90 – 95% decrease in the last 150 years and this has had a catastrophic impact on our health and well-being. The absence of the material responsible for brain function, cell regeneration and transmission has direct links to degeneration in neurological function; common conditions include autism, schizophrenia, learning disabilities, ADHD, Alzheimer’s – even anxiety and depression.
So why isn’t your doctor telling you about this. Well, if you want my advice, because it’s harder to sell. I mean imagine your reaction as you wander down to your local specialist, and instead of getting your usual prescription of Prozac for your depression, you get given cod liver oil? Nonsense right?
If you can indulge me on just one paragraph in this disposition, let it be this one: If your internal state is subject to a sickness and you require medication, does it not make logical sense to look at our nutrition first, before looking for additional external substances not found in food?
You don’t get Prozac in fruit or vegetables, but you do find omega-3 in fish, walnuts and avocados. We need to undo and plug this gap in our nourishment before looking to mask it with medication we may not need.
If you’ve lost your car keys, they’re more likely to be inside the house than the shed. Check the obvious places first.
Food is medicine ladies and gentlemen; you take it at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
